Katsina State Government in collaboration with local government councils has sponsored bout forty-one indigenous students to study Medicine in Egypt.

Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Professor Badamasi Lawal who revealed this to newsmen in Katsina stated that both foreign and local scholarships are jointly sponsored by state government and local councils in the state.

Professor Badamasi Lawal disclosed that about N650M had been jointly spent for the sponsorship of students to study in Egypt alone .

In the area of Irrigation farming in the year under review, the Commissioner claimed that the state government and local councils jointly expended N1.9b for the provision of fertilizer, chemicals, 204 Solar Powered Boreholes and improved seeds launched by the Governor Dikko Umar Radda at Dikke in Funtua.

The Irrigation farmers according to the Commissioner were advised to key-in to enable the state government boost agricultural products, improve economic growth and to also encourage the state government fulfill its campaign promises.

On Palliatives, the Commissioner stated that when the current state administration came on board, state government and local councils jointly procured over 40,000 bags of Rice and grains.

Other distribution of grains including N10,000 have been given to widows, Vulnerable, the weak and disadvantaged across the 34 local government areas of the state in which N66M was expended to that effect.
